I wrote this for something my friends and I did back in the day. We made our own characters to replace the ones in FFX-2. We called ourselves the wingullwings. It was so Mary sue-ish, but so much fun.

"Are those pyreflies?" Kehesia asked as the three sat down for a moment of rest, legs dangling off the dangerously high cliff. They were surrounded by glowing orbs that danced through the sky in incomprehensible geometric shapes.
"No, those are pokemon and they're called Volbeat," Lone explained, laying back on the grass and watching the dance unfold above her. "They dance to attract mates: Illumise."
"Dancing to attract mates?" Ira raised an eyebrow as she watched the dancing insects.
"Yeah, but then again, it's not all that ridiculous. It's my belief that after I danced the sending, he fell in love with me," Lone sighed, closing her eyes and not daring to open them for fear that tears would fall from them.
"I sense a subject change is in order," Ira commented.
"No, it's okay. I need to learn to move on, but every time I try to, I feel guilty. I just wish I knew if that was him or not in the sphere," Lone sighed and wished she had the sphere of Tidus' blitz ball game with her.
"Oh, this is depressing," Kehesia grumped, "Hey, I know, let's go kick some feind butt! That'll cheer you up especially if you get to use double T threat, right?" Kehesia grinned at Lone, narrowing her eyes slyly.
"I don't think a battle will help much," Ira shook her head with an amused grin playing on her face.
"Actually, it might be worth a shot," Lone smiled, standing up. "Thank you," she said to her friends. She didn't know what she'd do without them.
